London Chess Classic 2014

11.12.14

For the first time the school chess club took part in the annual London Chess Classic at Olympia. Travelling up to London by public transport the children received tutoring from specialist chess tutors, watched a presentation by Grand Masters and played in a 6 round tournament. One of our players also played on the very stage where the Grand Masters play, in front of all of the schools, with her match and moves being screened above. The children were all impeccably behaved, exhibited incredible sportsmanship and focused amazingly well for the duration of the day. We must thank the parent and staff helpers that accompanied  the children and a special thanks to Mr Duncan who organised the event for us. For further information about the Londin Classic you can see their website at http://www.londonchessclassic.com/

We even made the local newspaper!
