Year 2 have spent this term exploring a range of techniques to embellish fabrics, including tie-dye, plaiting and sewing. The children should be incredibly proud of their finished moon flags, linking to our Space Race topic.
3.4.19 – Year 2 had a great day last Friday. We were measuring and cooking in preparation for our Money cafe. We raised £43 whilst practising our money skills finding totals and giving change. Thank you to all the family members that came and supported their children. We hope to buy some new wet play games for our classroom with the money we raised.

Children enjoyed investigating materials to find out if they’d be suitable for The Three Little Pigs’ rain jackets and their lunch bags. For the lunch bags, they looked at covering the paper in tape, crayon and leather polish to make the paper waterproof. Through this experiment, the children learnt that they could make paper waterproof by colouring it in using wax crayons. Fascinating!
They also explored the flexibility of everyday materials by seeing if they could bend and stretch.
At Christmas, following an English unit where the children produced some wonderful writing, the classroom was transformed into a winter wonderland. Mrs Neville and Miss Armstrong were delighted when the children climbed aboard the Polar Express in their pyjamas, ready for a day of fun and and laughter including a secret cinema screening of Polar express, complete with hot chocolate with lashing of cream.

In Autumn, the children got to visit the Living Rainforest linking to our topic focus. They saw all sort of fabulous wildlife such as Asian Water Dragons, toucans and the pygmy monkeys, which they all wanted to bring home as pets! The children amazing the guides with all of their knowledge about the layers of the rainforest.
