Year 6
Everyone’s a writer: Poetry unit focused on ‘creating imagery through narrative’. In Art, he children drew an outline of the side profile of their head and then filled it with the location or event that occurred in their poem. the two pieces of work were then placed together.
Project homework related to Vikings: Josh created a Viking axe, using wood, string and flint. Evie created a Viking warrior’s face using modelling clay. Heidi baked a cake in the shape of a sword and Helena made Viking pancakes with blueberries and honey.

Girls Tag Rugby Competition: The girls played 3 matches in their group and won all 3 matches.
Science: Animals including humans unit. During our lesson on the features and functions of the heart and lungs, the children completed a dissection.
Then in a lesson focused on blood, we represented red blood cells with cheerios, white blood cells with marshmallows, yellow food colouring for plasma and rhinestones for platelets.

We had a very exciting day, filled with fun and new learning when we were visited by Portals to the Past who taught us more about the Egyptians. April thought the best bit was dressing up, whilst Will said “The Egyptian dancing was really funny.”

In year 1 we love painting and being creative. We decorated beautiful rainbow fish and produced a colourful and attractive display to further brighten up our classroom. When we want to share a book we have a lovely reading area to go into. Some of us enjoy reading our teddies a story.
